Located in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, China these high mountains were formed there about 380 million years ago when water deteriorated sandstone, leaving behind high stone columns. Don’t be surprised if these mountains seem to be familiar to you: they inspired James Cameron and the famous “floating mountains” of the film “Avatar”.
